2012 MetaMorphic Ritual Theatre Production

The Ancient Greek bard Orpheus can never return to the Underworld after seeking his lost love there. Immortalised yet unable to appreciate His eternal body, he was torn limb from limb by the Maenads, wildwomen in the retinue of Dionysos. The disembodied head floated off down the river of Acheron, singing ever…

A head, alone on the currents, adrift on the elements, found by the Knights Templar and become their oracle…

A head, having learnt presence, disembodied yet with heightened senses, aware now of the power of the physical form in which it is forever encased, wise and carnal, desires to make a new body...

In 2011 Orryelle created a life-size statue which was a composite of 31 smaller wax figures in a variety of positions and poses. During the course of a black-light performance, these glowing figures floated through space to fit together and interlock progressively forming the larger composite figure.

This performance and installation previewed in Melbourne Australia, then featured in the Sept. 2011 Esoteric Book Conference in Seattle USA.

The result of this multimedia experiment is a distillation of the process involved. Now a stop-animation film has been created of the statue forming from its composite parts. This frees Orryelle in the performance context to dance live the progressive reclamation of the whole body which the work explores, healing the body-mind split in an aptly more physical expression, while singing the story of Orpheus in the oral tradition of such mystery plays. The backing film provides larger more detailed imagery of the statue's assemblage than could be seen previously live even in the front row.

This new refined version of the show will debut in Melbourne (Australia) March 2012, followed by performances in Europe and the UK -dates and locales to be confirmed.

A Workshop by Orryelle Defenestrate-Bascule

Magic is not just an abstract pursuit or armchair spirituality, it must be earthed in the temple of the flesh to be effectively manifested.

Orryelle -artist-author of Conjunctio and Coagula (published by Fulgur Limited UK) and Director of Australian-based Metamorphic Ritual Theatre Co.- presents a series of physical and energetic practises, drawing on personal teachings of diverse traditions, from Japanese Butoh dance to Sekhem and yogic asanas based on Ancient Egyptian Godforms; from tantric pranayama (breathing) exercises to Suzuki physical-theatre techniques -to demonstrate the power of magic embodied in the physical realms.

ALQUIMIA TÂNTRICA

Alquimia Tantrica é uma fusão das filosofias magico-misticas do oriente e do ocidente aplicadas na prática.

Orryelle e Lila vão apresentar uma sequência de técnicas (pranayamas, trabalho de respiração, bhandas, ginástica ao períneo, asanas, visualizações e trabalho com o som) para acordar a energia da Kundalini e atingir a gnose.

Através destes métodos - reunidos pelo tantra hindu e tibetano e pela simbologia aplicada do esoterismo ocidental, pode-se experimentar a alquimia incorporada.

O workshop explora maneiras de sublimar a energia sexual num fogo criativo e a transformar o metal em ouro no interior do indivíduo.


TANTRIC ALCHEMY

Tantric Alchemy is a fusion of eastern and western magical-mystical philosophies applied pratically.

Orryelle and Lila will present a sequence of techniques (pranayamas, breathwork, bhandas, perineum stregthening exercises, asanas, visualizations and soundwork) to awaken kundalini energy and attain gnosis.

Through such methods - gleaned through hindu and tibetan tantras and applied western esoteric symbology, embodied alchemy may be experienced.

The workshop explores ways to subliminate sexual energy into creative fire and transform lead into gold within the individual.

LILAH LILITH

Tantrica, yogini, bailarina do ventre, massagista, herbalista, terapeuta do som, escritora.

Ela estudou extensivamente as artes mágicas, terapêuticas e performativas em Israel, na Europa e nos EUA recebendo iniciação no Tantra Yoga e Dzogchen.

Ela devocionou o seu trabalho à ressurreição dos mistérios femininos dentro das tradições esotéricas.

Ela é uma performer de teatro ritual, e cria afrodisiacos tântricos através de plantas orgânicas de fabrico selvagem de acordo com receitas antigas.


LILAH LILITH

Tantrika, yogini, belly-dancer, body worker, herbalist, sound healer, writer.

She studied extensively the magical, healing and performing arts in Israel, Europe and USA receiving initiation in highest yoga tantra and dzogchen.

She devoted her work to the ressurrection of the feminine mysteries within the esoteric traditions.

She is a ritual theatre performer, and creates tantric aphrodisies from organic plants she wildcrafts according to ancient magical recipies.

Orryelle na performance teatral e no violino, Lila Lilith na dança do ventre e dança butoh, Epic a esculpir ao vivo com vidro.

This special alchemical tour around Europe in May and June 2010 features Orryelle -musician (violin, voice, electronica), performer and director of Australia's Metamorphic Ritual Theatre Company is collaborating with the Austrian glass-blower 'Epic' -to have the spectacle of live glass-blowing as a part of the performances- and the Butoh and Bellydance fusion dancer Lila Lilith (Israel). Orryelle will be performing Alchemical Ritual Theatre and music concerning the alchemical colour-phases as the different liquids pass through the display of alchemical glassware, while Epic creates more glassware live as a part of the alchemical process from the fire of the furnace (occasionally pausing to play some flute in the soundscape!)...
While Lila dances each of the different alchymic phases in different styles and corresponding coloured costumes.
During the journey the casting of some of Orryelle's mythical clay sculptures will be combined with the glass-blowing to create alchemical vessels with sphinx paws, griffin heads etc. Hybrid creatures have always been prevalent symbols in alchemical art for the union of disparate elements, so to have their features embellishing actual glass vessels is a special opportunity, and some of these works will also be on display and for sale after each show, in addition to Orryelle's drawn alchemical Art and books and Lila's alchymic potions.

Wyrd Music & 8 Gates

Na primeira semana tivemos o prazer de comparticipar na Wyrd Music, um concerto no Espaço Reflexo, em Sintra, dedicado ao saber e à arte underground.

A primeira banda foram os Aelia Capitolina (gótico psicadelico), com uma encenação teatral dos seus temas, um niilismo e um gnosticismo musical.

Depois, uma viagem aos reinos do cosmo e do sobrenatural cerebral por Hyaena Reich





Então a actuação pagã e cerimonial do australiano Orryelle Bascule, lider da banda Harlequintet.




Na segunda semana tivemos o prazer de organizar, no Centro Chokurei junto ao EL Corte Inglês, a peça a solo "8 Gates" de Orryelle Bascule, lider da equipa de teatro "Metamorphic Ritual Theatre". Uma peça que, utilizando-se da mitologia nordica, aborda assuntos como vidas passadas, o eu comer o eu, vários estados de percepção, e a não linearidade do tempo.



Nos corredores e nas salas de espera proporcionamos uma exposição do grimório de arte do artista, "Conjunctio".
